A+ Nannies Candidate Standards

At A+ Nannies, we’re proud to represent exceptional childcare and household professionals who bring excellence, integrity, and heart into every home.
Each candidate we accept has been carefully vetted to meet our high standards of professionalism, reliability, and care.

To be considered for a nanny placement, candidates must:

  • Be 18 years or older

  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Be legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

  • Provide verifiable professional references

  • Have a minimum of two years of relevant childcare experience (excluding family experience)

  • Have at least one year of experience working in a private home setting

  • Be CPR and First Aid certified or willing to obtain certification within 30 days of hire

  • Preferred qualifications include higher education in early childhood or related fields, a clean driving record, and the ability to travel domestically or internationally as needed.

        Housekeepers

        To qualify for a housekeeping position, candidates must:

      • Be 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.

      • Have at least two years of professional housekeeping or household management experience

      • Provide verifiable professional references

      • Demonstrate strong attention to detail, time management, and discretion

      • Be reliable, organized, and proactive in maintaining household standards

      • Hold a valid driver’s license and have dependable transportation

      • Preferred qualifications include experience in large or multi-staffed homes, knowledge of fine garment care, and familiarity with high-end finishes and materials.

        Newborn Care Specialists

        To be considered for newborn care specialist placements, candidates must:

      • Be 18 years or older and legally authorized to work in the U.S.

      • Have specialized experience caring for newborns and infants (typically 5+ years)

      • Provide verifiable professional references from families or agencies

      • Be CPR and First Aid certified for infants and children

      • Have a solid understanding of sleep conditioning, feeding schedules, and newborn development

      • Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and strong communication skills

      • Preferred qualifications include certification as a Newborn Care Specialist (NCS), advanced infant CPR training, or relevant coursework in newborn or infant care.

    Online Application

    The first step in joining A+ Nannies is completing our detailed online application. This allows us to get a full picture of your background, experience, and professional strengths.

    In the application, you’ll be asked to:

    ◆ Provide a complete employment history with detailed descriptions of your previous positions and responsibilities ◆ Share references that our team and families may contact ◆ Upload certifications such as CPR, First Aid, or specialized training
    ◆ Submit any letters of recommendation you may have ◆ Complete a childcare knowledge test to demonstrate your understanding of key childcare principles

    This step helps us ensure that every candidate we represent has the skills, professionalism, and dedication that A+ Nannies is known for.

    Application Review

    Each application we receive is reviewed with care to ensure every candidate’s skills and experience align with the families we represent. We take pride in matching professionals who are not only qualified, but also share our values of trust, excellence, and genuine care.

    To be considered, candidates must:

    ◆ Be 18 years or older
    ◆ Be legally eligible to work in the United States
    ◆ Have at least two years of recent, professional childcare or household experience (not including family care)
    ◆ Hold current CPR and First Aid certification, or be willing to renew within 30 days of hire
    ◆ Possess a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation
    ◆ Provide strong, verifiable professional references
    ◆ Agree to be paid legally (“on the books”) as a W-2 employee ◆ Successfully complete a comprehensive background screening

    Agency Interview

    Once your application is reviewed, selected candidates are invited to a video interview with our A+ Nannies team. This is our opportunity to get to know you — your story, experience, and the passion behind your work. We also discuss what you’re looking for so we can match you with the right family and position.

    Our team contacts each reference directly to confirm employment history, gather insight about the candidate’s performance, and better understand their work style and strengths.

    During these conversations, we evaluate key areas such as:

    ◆ Level of engagement and energy in their role ◆ Responsiveness to feedback
    ◆ Areas for professional growth
    ◆ Reliability and overall professionalism

    In addition to reference checks, we review each candidate’s online presence to ensure their public profile reflects the professionalism expected of all A+ Nannies candidates. This includes diverse social media platforms and any other online content.

    This step helps us confirm that candidates represent themselves with integrity — both on and off duty — upholding the level of professionalism our families trust.

    Once you’ve completed the interview and initial screenings, our team takes everything we’ve learned about you — your application, experience, test results, and personal interview — to create your A+ Nannies profile.

    This isn’t just a summary of your work history; it’s a thoughtful presentation of your strengths, personality, and the qualities that make you stand out. Your profile is how we introduce you to families — with professionalism, care, and the attention to detail that defines A+ Nannies.

    Background Checks

    Once a family decides to move forward with an offer, the chosen nanny undergoes a comprehensive background check conducted in full compliance with all applicable laws.

    Complete Background Checks Include:
